Foresight Report South Asia launch

On 6 October 2016 in New Delhi, India, the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition, in partnership with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), hosted an event to discuss the Panel’s new Report: Food systems and diets: Facing the challenges of the 21st century, which draws on the latest science and evidence to assess the diverse challenges nations will face in ensuring healthy and nutritious diets over the next 20 years. It also sets out priorities for action to prepare for the future, with a focus on low-and middle-income countries.

The Global Panel also launched its regional paper: “Better diets for a better future: A food system perspective in South Asia”.

When

The media briefing took place in the afternoon, and was followed by a dinner where the Foresight Report’s recommendations were highlighted. Speakers included: Panel Co-Chair Sir John Beddington, Panel Member and President, PHFI, Prof K. Srinath Reddy, Panel Member Emmy SimmonsDr Victor Ajieroh, Representative of Panel Member Akin Adesina, President of AfDB, and Prof Sandy Thomas, Director of the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition.
